Book Review #3 - Red Blooded American Male

Red-Blooded American Male: PhotographsRed-Blooded American Male: Photographs by Robert Trachtenberg

Great Photography!

In Red Blooded American Male, Robert Trachtenberg has put together some of his greatest "Cheeky" photos of today's male celebrities. In some of the photos, they were meant to mock sexiness, macho-ness, and etc. However, the photos still turned out to be these amazing pieces. Some of the photos have some cute little stories that go along with them, and others are just placed in the book.
I find the idea of challenging today's definition of masculinity through photography, to be a genius idea. Mr. Trachtenberg has an amazing eye for these shots that turn out to be perfect. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that had an interest in Photography.

Robert Trachtenberg's photographs have appeared in Entertainment Weekly, Rolling Stone, Esquire, the New York Times Magazine, People, and Vanity Fair among other publications. Advertising clients include NBC, CBS, ABC, Netflix, Amazon, and HBO. Trachtenberg has written, produced, and directed several documentaries on such legendary entertainers as Gene Kelly, Cary Grant, and Bing Crosby. He is the winner of the Emmy Award for Outstanding Direction for his film Mel Brooks: Make a Noise. Trachtenberg is also the author of the book When I Knew (Harper Collins). He lives in Los Angeles, California.

Book Review #2 - Nine Kinds of Naughty

Nine Kinds of NaughtyNine Kinds of Naughty by Jeanette Grey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A steamy page turner!

Alexis Bellamy, also known as Lexie, is the single and struggling Co-CEO of her family's business. Always sure she is never good enough, Lexie expects perfection out of herself from work right down to her non-existent personal life. In order to achieve the perfection Lexie must be in control of everything.
Dane is Lexie's sexy personal assistant, but on his own time he does his own thing. Battling demons of his past, he seeks an adrenaline rush to help keep from drowning in life. This includes being in charge in the bedroom.
From the second he began working for Lexie, he wanted to be her Dom. Can Lexie let go and not be in control? Can she let Dane be in charge?

This book left me breathless many times. I was gripped from the first page, and found myself desperately needing to know what was going to happen next. There are some hot and heavy bedroom scenes. So this book is not for those who are sensitive to that kind of content. However, if you find yourself wanting a steamy read, this book is definitely for you!

Book Review #1 - Desperate Measures

Desperate MeasuresDesperate Measures by Elle Casey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was a great read. Perfect for the girl who loves a bit of drama tossed in with some romance.

Desperate Measures follows Aimee, Kiki, and Elizabeth as they meet for the first time at a bookstore, and then begin a wonderful friendship. With the help of Kiki and Elizabeth, Aimee faces a challenge with her unhinged soon to be ex-husband and the nasty divorce he brings to the table. Aimee conquers fears and realizes she is not all the lies her ex told her she was.

This book was quite the page turner, for me. I found myself quickly wrapped up in the story of these three women, and I connected greatly with the character of Aimee. I had faced some similar situations to hers, not that long ago. I found the character development of Aimee to be quite amazing, and even found myself being proud of her as the story progressed.
The only thing I found myself unhappy with was the ending. I felt it was a bit rushed. I understand this book is part of a trilogy, however, I still think the ending could have been approached in a different manner. The author could have left us in suspense as they do with most trilogies. However, this ending felt to me as if it were a rushed ending and then it was decided later that there would be an extension of the story.

Other than my frustration with the ending, this book was definitely enjoyable. I finished it in a day.

Welcome to my blog!

I have been blogging about books and such for a few years now. However, I had some technical difficulties with my last blog, so I started a brand new one.
A lot of you may remember me as Ashley Nordyke, but I just recently got married. It hasn't even been a week yet!

For this blog, I will review books, start conversations about books that you may be interested in, and do author spotlights.
